Event Description:
This series of five, 1-hour live webinars provides information and instruction in the basics of archival management, including archival acquisition & appraisal; arrangement & description; creating finding aids; preservation storage & housing; and access with emphasis on best standards and practices, as well as low-cost solutions. The webinars are designed for staff and volunteers from historical societies, libraries, museums, archives and other cultural heritage organizations with historic record collections.
October 4: The Basics of Archival Acquisition and Appraisal, presented by Martha Lund Smalley, Archives Consultant.
October 11: The Fundamentals of Archival Arrangement and Description, presented by Linda Hocking, Curator of Library & Archives, Litchfield Historical Society and Leith Johnson, Archives Consultant
October 18: Creating Finding Aids, presented by Brian Stevens, WCSU Archivist and Special Collections Librarian.
October 25: Preservation Storage & Housing of Archives Collection: Guidelines & Solutions, presented by Tara Kennedy, Preservation Services Librarian, Yale University Library.
November 1: Making Your Archives Accessible, presented by Diane Lee, Connecticut Collections,
